Affirmative Agreement & Negative Agreement
Affirmative agreement
·
So =>
so + to be + subject
·
Too =>
subject +to be +too
·
So =>
so + auxiliary verb + subject
·
Too =>
subject + auxiliary verb + too
to eliminate the repetition of
words in a sentence we can use the word "so" or "too", when
there is only "to be" in the main clause, then the same tenses of
"to be" used in the second clause. examples:
A : i’m
feeling tired
B : mee
too/so am i
Aux. Verb : do/does -> present
Did -> S. Past
Had ->
past. Perfect
Has/have ->
present perfect
When there are only auxiliary verb as will, should, has, have, must in the
main clause, verb help him is also used in the second clause. Without
the auxiliary verb in the main clause, the verb do, does, or did use the second
clause and must be the same tenses. Example :
1.
A : i always have a cup of coffe in the morning
B : i do too/so do i
2.
A : i studied last night
B : so did i/i did too
Negative Agreement
·

subject
·

"Either" and
"Neither" in the second clause in the positive. The word
"either" and "Neither" is used to indicate negative. The
same rule also applies to users "to be", "auxiliary verb"
and "verb". examples:
1.
